War between the Goodly & Ungoodly Races

Years before Humans were even to be, many ancient races lived upon the earth. Some races chose to live in harmony with others and the nature around them. Preferring to learn, grow and love, members of these races have strove for generations to protect and preserve the beauty to be found. Some have members who live to be over 1000 years old and are very knowledgable. Some of the ancient races are considered neutral for they tend to ally with whom their interest lies at the time. Much like humans are now, some of these races do only what they feel is best for themselves and can change their opinions quickly. Other races have no sense of peace or love or fairness. Even amoungst themselves, their main loyality is to greed. These are the Ungoodly races they are constantly looking to attack others so they may gain gold, lands or power.
The ancient Gods are much the same, the Goodly thrive in the peace, love and worship of their followers. The Ungoodly thrive on the fear and pain of their followers. These tend to encourage war, deceit and power above love or knowledge and teach war and pain for their pleasure. Finally, there are Gods who just enjoy mischief and encourage situations of chaos just to watch the outcome for entertainment.
This is a part of the life about The Grove, as it has been for many generations, 10's of thousands of years. Battles come and go as the Orges & Giants come down from the mountions. The Drow surface from their dark underworld, as do the lightless races. Formorians, Powies, Dark Dragons and others always bent on destruction, fear, gold and power. They fight amoungst themselves, ecah other and the Goodly races. Any and all they believe stand between them and something they or their Gods wish.
Occupants of Mystic Grove have always defended her sacred borders against such foes. They have also always come to the aid of the homelands that the many races of The Grove originate. The sea's, hills, valleys, forests, lakes and mountians surrounding the Mysic Grove are watched, protected and defended against those who wish to do harm.
